RESTORATION

ARCHIVAL PHOTO RESTORATION
& OPTIMISATION

This collection of images show aspects of some of the photographic restoration techniques that I undertake. Prices are based on an appraisal of your image, therefore dependent on the work involved. But it usually takes about an hour for most restorations.

Traditional archival restoration - This process keeps the original captured image as taken at the time, but can remove much of the subsequent damage sustained from paper clips, rips, stains, cuts, wear over the years, which was not part of the original captured image.

Black & white to colour - From a mono original, I can add realistic colour to any image from any period, but better if you have reference colours.

Optimisation - The photographic process cannot record the same high dynamic range (HDR) that the human eye possesses, so the camera
records an image with a limited range of tones. We have got so used to this and consider it normal. However, digital optimisation can now bring the image back to how it was ‘seen’ at the point of capture.

Architectural makeovers -  This technique can let you see what a planned building project may look like, before you invest in any materials.

Background replacement / scene revision
- You may have a requirement to replace the background, or change the entire setting.

Please email me with your enquiry or an image that you would like a quote on.
I look forward to working with you on your project. Jon Davison 2020.
