We were commissioned in June this year to again provide
new images of the Pilatus PC12 over generic Australian
locations. In this case we decided upon the stunning
landscape of the north of WA as the backdrop.

‘Robbie – the Robinson helicopter experience’ by Jon Davison, published in
2007 by Eye in the Sky.
This was an awesome project that entailed Jon flying to 10 different countries
to photograph Robinson helicopters at work. The book is based on interviews
with operators from such varied locations as;
Alaska, Norway, UK, South Africa, USA, New Zealand, Hawaii, Cambodia
and Australia. The stories reveal just how much the small R22 and R44
helicopters have changed the face of aerial tourism, mustering, training
and joy flights worldwide. The book includes stunning photos of the
helicopters themselves, but also some amazing imagery of the earth from

Because we always work on location with natural light, we are totally
governed by the weather and atmospheric conditions on the day and it
is something you cannot change. In Australia this is not so much of a
problem, the weather here is generally quite stable. The challenge
comes when you are faced with an overcast day when it was assumed
it would be the opposite! this makes you pull out all your creativity.

As part of our photographic assignments on location, we always include
close-ups and cameos as additions to any illustrative story. Details, when
used together with the main subject matter in a magazine or book, often
reveal more than the subject alone .

Heli Mustering

These images are from a typical heli muster using the very
nimble Robinson R22 Beta II helicopter. David Adamson
is an official check pilot and safety officer for these
operations. A muster of this size usually involves trail
bikes, horses, fixed wing and helicopters. Whilst on site
David is often roped in to help with the muster itself.
